Diagnosis and treatment

Brucellosis is usually diagnosed by taking a blood sample and sending this to a laboratory. The blood sample is tested for the antibodies against the brucellosis bacteria. The infection is treated with a combination oftwo or more different antibiotics , such asdoxycycline with gentamicinor doxycycline with rifampicin. These will usually need to be taken for at least six weeks.
